Arm Liposuction

Generalities (see liposuction thighs, belly)

Liposuction cannot be used to substitute for a diet, nor can it be done on an individual who is overweight. However, it is a very useful technique to eliminate fat tissue that would otherwise be impossible to lose in another way.

Sometimes, there are fat tissue deposits in areas of the arms. These deposits are often unaffected by diets.

Arm liposuction is a delicate procedure because the fat layer in the arm is mostly thin and the skin of the arm is very fine. After enormous weight loss it is necessary to remove excess skin by an arm lift.

Procedure

See thighs liposuction or belly liposuction

The procedural technique is the same, although the cannula used are smaller.

The surgery can be done under general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic and often as an outpatient.

Duration of the surgery

An arm liposuction takes about one hour.

Risks

The risks are the same as for other liposuction. (thighs liposuction, belly liposuction)
