Thigh and Buttock Lift

A thigh lift is a procedure that involves correcting the flabby skin on the inside of the thigh. This comes about from natural ageing at around 50 or 60 years, or after a substantial weight loss. Fat accumulation is often resistant to weight loss, and these small fat cushions can be removed with a liposuction only. For older people the skin elasticity diminishes and it becomes more difficult to treat this condition with liposuction alone, and therefore a thigh lift will then be necessary.

A thigh lift is therefore often associated with liposuction. The incision is made in the internal inguinal region (groin) up to the level of the buttock (see picture “skin removing”).

Other techniques allow removal of the surplus skin in the area of the buttock, as well as at the level of the pelvis in a combined body lift (see also abdominoplasty).

These surgical operations are generally done under general anaesthetic or spinal anaesthetic.

Depending on the magnitude of the surgery it will be an outpatient intervention or with a short stay in the hospital.
